Land of my Dreams – Solo Exhibition by Lucie Olson: Vernissage

April 12 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Lucie Olson’s Land of my Dreams exhibition displays her latest paintings, most of them done in oil and cold wax medium, which she is thrilled to share with local art enthusiasts.

Lucie is a Gatineau-based artist who graduated from the Fine Arts Diploma Program at the Ottawa School of Art in 2022. Since then, her curiosity led her to discover oil and cold wax medium, which lends itself well to a loose application approach devoid of precision. She  loves the ability to create layers of colors and then subtract or scrape off sections to reveal the beautiful colors underneath. She says it’s like playing a game of hide and seek.

She is intrigued by abstraction and often explores it in her creations. “I mostly paint from my imagination without any preconceived ideas, letting colours and shapes emerge on the surface. The evolving scenery changes constantly, like in a meandering dream.  I am a nature-lover and most of my compositions inevitably morph into recognizable natural elements such as forests, vegetation, mountains and water.”
