SUMMARY:Home by Fariba Kalantari
DESCRIPTION:The unifying theme behind this collection is the sense of home from the viewpoint of an immigrant to Canada. Through these works the viewer is invited to a space the artist has called home for a period of time\, before the next move. This exhibit has been supported by grants from the City of Ottawa and Ontario Arts Council. \nFariba Kalantari is a visual artist. She has a PhD from McGill University and has been a research scientist. Her artworks have been consistently exhibited\, and she has received multiple grants. Recently her work has been acquired by the Art Bank Collection. She lives in Ottawa and online at www.faribakalantari.com.

The materials—bronze\, paper\, and wax—interact in a quiet\, contemplative atmosphere\, reflecting the stillness that can mask deeper\, hidden violence. SUMMARY:Valerie Ryan Drawing with the Brush
DESCRIPTION:Ryan Artist Statement\nReviewing my old sketchbooks\, I discovered a comment made by one of my teacher’s that I had an energetic hand!  That comment made me laugh and encouraged me to continue working outdoors exploring the landscape. Outside\, the strokes seem to both describe the form and give it colour. Outlines disappear. The brushwork is loose and almost abstract\, yet it still has integrity and describe the forms. It is a balancing act that at times can be difficult out in the elements. I have been working smaller outdoors.  The smaller paintings are a good aid to working larger in the studio. In the early dark months of winter\, flowers have been the subject of choice. \nRyan Bio \nValerie Ryan completed a B.F.A (Queen’s University) and a M.F.A. (University of Saskatchewan). She attended many Emma Lake Artists workshops through the 1980’s. It was there that she felt free to paint outdoors and explore loose brushwork and colour. A practice she has continued for over 40 years. She taught at the National Gallery of Canada and the Ottawa School of Art. Her paintings are in many corporate and private collections.

DESCRIPTION:I am enthralled by the human animal and its stubbornly consistent spirit\, timelessly emotional conditions\, and varied environments. My paintings build humbly on works of traditional painters laid down through the millennium. DESCRIPTION:If you’ve ever spotted an image of a dog or a shoe in the clouds\, you’ve exhibited what is called pareidolia\, the tendency to perceive a meaningful image in a random pattern. Shane Belanger\, a blacksmith artist has honed his talent to visualize shapes and patterns  and has an exhibit of his work at the Cline House Gallery\, 204 Second St. in Cornwall from March 15 to April 26th.

SUMMARY:Art Lending of Ottawa Spring Show
DESCRIPTION:Art Lending of Ottawa offers a diverse selection of artwork\, featuring more than just oil\, acrylic\, mixed media\, and watercolour paintings at their art shows. In addition to these traditional mediums\, some of the artists also work with photo-based art\, pastel\, encaustics\, mosaics\, ink\, and printmaking. \nOne long-time artist\, Marie Léger\, has been with Art Lending for many years and is currently exploring encaustics. This ancient medium\, which involves molten beeswax mixed with resin and pigments\, is gaining increasing popularity. For Marie\, the unexpected textures and results of encaustics keep the painting process exciting and fresh. Visitors to the art shows can experience this fascinating technique\, which allows for the creation of layers\, textures\, and striking luminosity. \nAll the artists at Art Lending are passionate about their craft and invite everyone to attend their next show.

DESCRIPTION:Galerie Old Chelsea is thrilled to announce its latest exhibition featuring the works of Dawn McArthur\, a unique visual storyteller and wilderness artist\, known for her evocative acrylic paintings that capture the vibrant essence of the Quebec wilderness. The exhibition will showcase McArthur’s unique approach to art\, blending storytelling\, symbolism\, and a deep connection to nature. \nMcArthur’s work is inspired by the stunning landscapes of Quebec\, where she finds inspiration in the wild beauty that surrounds her. Through her expressive paintings\, McArthur celebrates “The Wild” with playful optimism\, reflecting her personal outlook on life.
