This collection explores an allegorical space where fine art and narrative illustration intertwine. Beshara’s compositions\, built like textiles of dense foliage and radiant light\, create a tactile sense of depth. Rooted in the elegance of Art Nouveau yet distinctly contemporary\, WILD HEART Tapestries offers a poetic meditation on the mystery of both forest and garden. \nCrystal Beshara is a Canadian contemporary realist painter and proud two-time winner of the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation prize. A self-taught realist\, her childhood was spent drawing and observing life on a farm and the quiet\, connective world in which she lived. Even after moving to Ottawa to receive her BFA in Studio\, Crystal’s strong rural narrative continued to play a huge role in her paintings. Her style is a juxtaposition of two worlds; her love of realism collides with her post-secondary studies creating expressive and emotionally charged works of art that have been collected by corporate\, private\, and commercial clients.

SUMMARY:'A Murmuration of Whispers' by Reid McLachlan
DESCRIPTION:Galerie Old Chelsea is thrilled to welcome Chelsea’s Reid McLachlan with “A Murmuration of Whispers”\, a compelling new body of work that offers a rare glimpse into his creative process. McLachlan’s paintings begin not with images\, but with words. Whether fragments\, phrases\, or complex thoughts\, his visual language emerges from an incessant\, shape-shifting murmuration of internal dialogue.  “A Murmuration of Whispers” is a conspiracy of letters\, words\, and symbols that whir overhead\, swooping and diving\, mutating into ephemeral hopes\, fugitive worries\, and tenacious regrets. \nEach piece originates in a chaotic blur of whispered text—amorphous as smoke in the breeze—twisting and turning until form begins to coalesce. From this shifting terrain\, visual narratives surface: solitary figures drift through silent\, indifferent landscapes\, searching for connection. Along their journeys\, they encounter enigmatic forces—trickster ravens\, counterfeit constellations\, unreliable Madonnas\, and other meddlesome presences—that guide or mislead them in equal measure. These figures\, suspended in a timeless world of longing and regret\, seek love and redemption while navigating a delicate balance between the conscious and subconscious. \nMcLachlan’s paintings reveal deeply personal reflections on life\, love\, and loss\, while resonating with a broader\, shared humanity. \nReid McLachlan studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design\, completing his final year at the OCAD campus in Florence\, Italy. He graduated with Honours winning multiple awards in 1987. For over 35 years\, he has lived and worked full-time in Chelsea\, where he remains an active member of the Chelsea/Wakefield artistic community. His work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions at both public and private galleries\, including Galerie Montcalm\, Art-Image\, Karsh-Masson\, l’Imagier\, the Ottawa School of Art\, Cube Gallery\, and La Petite Mort.

SUMMARY:Tim desClouds + Pat Durr
DESCRIPTION:Tim desClouds – Artist Statement \nIn this most recent body of works I have pared down my working process to a celebration of the tradition of drawing and painting leaving behind the many sculptural embellishments included in earlier works. The content of the works flow forward from my previous 2022 exhibition\, “Somewhere Between Mother Goose and Foucault”\, and 2024 exhibition “Heavy Rhymes\, Lightly Tossed” \nI have worked new iconography into my pieces. By referencing my love for philosophy and the many quirky nursery rhymes I have read to my daughter and more recently my grandsons\, I have found a whimsical middle ground for my works. Ironically many of the concepts within these stories parallel and overlap each other. As a lifelong student of media\, culture\, and philosophy\, playing with these narratives has allowed me to inject newfound interest and excitement into the art process and final products. \nThese works are materializations of my everyday life— thoughts\, feelings\, actions\, and interactions—and they help to weave a landscape of our shared existence. I imagine each work as a physical space where the viewer may stop in\, think\, discuss\, and depart freely. The viewer is given the opportunity to invest interest and imagination\, and to make what had once appeared incomprehensible\, comprehensible and personally meaningful. \nAbout the Artist \nTim desClouds is an Ottawa-based artist\, born in Montreal and raised in Ottawa. He has been an educator\, and arts advocate for well over 40 years. He has served on both the Ottawa Art Gallery and Gallery Saw Board of Directors. Tim retired from a 30 year teaching career at Canterbury High School Regional Programme for the Arts within the district of the Ottawa – Carleton Board of Education. He has created numerous public art works throughout Ontario and Quebec\, and his work has been acquired for numerous corporate\, private and government collections throughout North America. \nPat Durr – Artist Statement \nIt has been my good fortune to be an active practicing artist for over 45 years.  During that time I have tried to positively contribute to the world I live and work in by giving workshops and lectures in Ottawa and across the country. \nMy current artworks are concerned with the worlds which surround me\, both the natural and the urban – industrial. These landscapes have consistently been a reference source for my art. To this end\, I have accumulated cast-off objects from my surroundings – the artistic\, natural\, and industrial waste which I then reference in my artworks to probe the relationship between our actions and the natural world. \nMy artworks allude to often problematic and unfortunate negative interfaces with our environment.  Yet\, also central to my art is a celebration of the complexity of life\, as well as an exploration of this interplay between life and its complexities.  Most of my recently created pieces reflect my response to the pandemic and to my positive hopes for the future.  While the imagery is primarily abstract\, it is often infused with hints of recognizable objects and can echo images found in my earlier prints and paintings. \nI feel that the cyclic aspects of growth\, extinction and renewal are symbolic of my own often chaotic experience of existence. \nAbout the Artist \nDurr has been an active practicioner of art for over 45 years. During those years\, she has tried to positively contribute to the world she lives and works in by giving workshops and lectures across the country\, and by working with national organizations and advising the federal government on issues that directly affect Canadian visual artists. \nDurr’s solo exhibitions of paintings\, drawings and prints have been shown in public and private galleries and artist-run centers across Canada and the United States.  Her artworks are in public\, private and corporate collections in Canada\, United States\, Australia\, England\, Cuba and Israel.  She has received numerous awards and grants through-out her long career.

DESCRIPTION:Wall Space Gallery is excited to present Andrew Beck’s solo exhibition Into the Trees\, a series of paintings that invites viewers deep into the northern forests where light filters through ancient canopies and the boundary between the familiar and the unknown begins to blur.\nAndrew Beck is a British born painter now living in Ottawa\, Ontario. After a career spanning illustration\, graphic design and game development\, he became a full-time artist upon emigrating to Canada in 2016. His paintings are fragments of stories that never fully resolve\, leaving a sensation of uncertainty. Beck’s work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the UK\, Germany and Canada and is held in collections worldwide.

SUMMARY:Kelly Grace | Depth of Field
DESCRIPTION:Wall Space Gallery presents Depth of Field\, a solo exhibition by Kelly Grace that considers the act of looking as a reciprocal exchange. Moving between screen\, audience\, and painted surface\, the work explores how attention circulates\, with viewing becoming a shared and shifting experience. \nKelly Grace was born in Toronto in the 70s and raised in the rural area of Stouffville\, Ontario. Growing up\, Grace was surrounded by creative influences; her paternal grandparents were traveling puppeteers in the local fair and carnival circuit in California in the 1950’s\, and her grandfather was also a clown and a painter. Both her parents had artistic and creative inclinations and encouraged her to pursue her arts education. Grace continued her arts training at Sheridan College in Oakville\, Ontario where she studied Interpretive Illustration for 3 years. Although she never pursued an illustration career\, it was at this school that she developed her style of painting with acrylics. In her final year at Sheridan College\, a project focused on ‘phobias’ prompted her to examine the “fear of clowns”. Despite the fact that she isn’t actually afraid of clowns\, the project allowed her to develop her unique style.

SUMMARY:Jane Languedoc - Solo Art Show
DESCRIPTION:Jane Languedoc was born in Ottawa\, and living on the edge of the Canadian Shield\, the landscapes that surrounded her inspired her deep love of trees\, rocks and lakes.  She moved to London\, England in 1976 and was exposed to an entirely different life. Her frequent visits to the National Gallery gave her a love of impressionism and she took many summer trips to Wales and saw a very different landscape and learned to love the ocean and cliffs of Pembrokeshire. She longed for the fresh air and cool lakes of home and returned to Canada in 1980. \nJane has learnt from local professional artists\, such as Adrian Baker\, and many online programs such as Will Kemp art and Acrylic University. She loves bright colours and uses them to portray emotions. She feels that each season has a unique mood and paints each season as it occurs. She has traveled all over the US \,Canada and Europe and been moved by the wonderful variety that nature creates with light\, weather and flora. The awe of our wonderful planet is a never ending inspiration.
