Ottawa Society of Botanical Artists (OSBA)
Over the past decade, botanical art organizations have flourished across Canada, driven by local classes and global interest in the genre.
The Nepean Visual Arts Centre (NVAC) in Ottawa has been pivotal in developing botanical art in the region. Since 2006, NVAC, in partnership with artist Kerri Weller, has offered classes and small exhibitions. Today, NVAC continues to expand its botanical art offerings.
In 2012, Kerri and a group of students formed a collective that eventually became the Ottawa Society of Botanical Artists (OSBA). Today, over 40 members gather under the OSBA banner.
OSBA has exhibited at venues including City of Ottawa galleries, the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum’s 2018 Plant Portraits exhibition, and its first online show in 2021.
